Plot Summary:There lived a gudgeon in the river, who was very cowardly by nature and was afraid to get out of his hole. He shuddered at every rustle, frightened every shadow that flashed alongside. The whole life passed him - no family, no friends, no children, he never started. Only before his death did the gudgeon think about the emptiness of his years.
