David Bek and Mkhitar Sparapet lead the Armenian liberation movement in the XVIII century. The Star of Hope (1978, dir. Edmond Keosayan), has the same production designer as The Color of Pomegranates (Stepan Andranikyan) and was shot partly at the Haghpat monastery, as was Paradjanov's film.
