Plot Summary:In a small village in the northwest of Sichuan, ninety-year-old Yang is the ninth male successor in a family of fengshui geomancers. The local geomancers main function is to preside over village funerals. The film follows the Yang family as they must deal with several deaths: the tragedy of a father who must bury his son, the disputes between siblings over funeral expenses, a pair of lovers who died one after another. Meanwhile, Mr. Yang celebrates the birth of his two great-grandchildren while he is forced to bury his own son who succumbed to cancer.
