Plot Summary:Many Chinese students come to America through applying for PhD. The full scholarship offered by PhD programs covered their tuition and living expenses. A PhD for them is more like a job, rather than studying. Their relation with professors is similar to employment. Some of them are sponsored by Chinese government. In exchange, they have to return to China right after graduation. This film is about a PhD student from China living in America. His professor, peers and funding are from China too. When he graduates, he will return there as well. He is living in a small circle isolated from American society. This documentary is my own exploration of identity and anxiety in the context of a new form of transnational academic life.
