Plot Summary:This is a 'fact-based yakuza/action drama based on the biography of one of the prime movers and latter-day founders of the modern Yamaguchi - gumi, or Yamaguchi gang. The Yamaguchi - gumi, for a very long time post - WW2, was one of the largest yakuza groups in the Japanese nation.
当時の東映岡田茂社長が『ゴッドファーザー』が好きで、日本で当てはめるなら山口組だなと考え、これをやるのは自分しかないと直接、山口組の田岡一雄組長と交渉し映画化の約束を取りつけて製作した。 結果、『仁義なき戦い』を上回る記録的な大ヒットを飛ばした。
