Plot Summary:Set in a Los Angeles reformatory, behind locked gates and barbed-wire fences, for wayward girls and unwed-mothers, the inmates, two weeks from Chtistmas Day, conceal a newly-born baby boy from the institute's house-mothers and care-taker guards to keep it from going to an adoptive agency. They steal linens and bed-sheets to make diapers, and take shifts to care for the baby and all begin to make Christmas presents, from odds-and-ends and personal items to give the baby they name Buddy a Christmas they have never had.
