Plot Summary:A once-powerful, but now ailing movie director nears the end of his life. As he awaits death, he slips into a "dream" and is shown three "snippets" of the movie of his son's life. At first suspicious, then curious, and ultimately captivated, he watches his son's growth from mid-teens to mid-thirties as the son pursues his life-long love, Isabelle. The two constants through these snippets are his pursuit of Isabelle and the imagined voice of his father, telling him that he is worthless and unwanted. It is not until the story reaches its conclusion, that the old man discovers the surprising truth about his son and himself.
传奇导演唐纳德，曾经在电影圈风光一时，如今已是风烛残年的他，已经快走到了生命的尽头。唐纳德把自己关在私人放映室里，观看那些自己所执导的电影，为了这些电影，他付出了太多的心血，以致忽略了家庭和朋友。现在他最后悔的是，一直不肯承认自己的私生子，如今他已经有三十年没见过儿子了。 随后一天晚上，唐纳德醒来后发现身边站着斯坦，后者是一位已经死了多年的编辑。震惊过后，斯坦给唐纳德放映了三段关于其私生子的电影，包含了他的成长过程。并告诉唐纳德，他仍然有机会去改变儿子的人生。此时唐纳德又该如何选择呢？
