Plot Summary:A boat with tourists is sailing up the river through the jungle. Suddenly they come face-to-face with Indians, naked apart from their paint, with self-made weapons at the ready. The tourists sail on excitedly. The Indians put on their jeans and collect their daily wages. The Guarani, one of Brazil's oldest Indian communities, are forced to live in a reservation. A small group of Guarani decide to leave the reservation and settle in a traditional territory that has belonged to white men for several generations. The clash between two conflicting cultures is conceived as a suspense story with mystical elements. The actors are real Indians with no actor training.
故事发生在巴西，当地的农民们生活富裕、安逸。他们被基因改造的庄稼产量丰富，经常陪着夜晚来到这里看鸟的游客生活在一起。与此同时，在他们土地的边界处却孕育着不安，原来这片土地的合法所有者，印第安人土著，在暗地想要夺回属于自己的土地。让这些人不得不在甘蔗地里以半奴隶的身份为别人工作，许多年轻人选择了自杀，自杀时导致了暴乱。土著中间有一个名叫纳迪奥的僧人，他们和一群瓜拉尼人在边界驻扎，并且宣称这是属于他们的土地。这两个互相对立的阶级开始了针对土地的交战，但是他们彼此从未停止向对方学习，终于，一个年轻的僧人奥斯瓦尔多和当地农民的女儿坠入爱河……
