Plot Summary:Juliette remembers...she was born under a bad sign ;at 17,when other girls were flirting and studying in high school ,she used to help her father in his forge ,before going to work in the factory.Her mother was a mentally disturbed person.In the dance hall,she met Pierre ,one of her brother's friends.They fell in love ,but her parents had to sell their forge ,and were out on the streets.So she had to renege on her love and to marry a railroad man .It was a brutal man ,fond of the bottle who would hang around with his buddies in the cafes.
