在芸芸众生之中，有一类人被称为“阿尔法人”，由于大脑结构产生了变异，这些阿尔法人因而获得了常人无法拥有的超能力，却也因此成为了政府的“眼中钉”，于是，一个专门针对阿尔法人存在的秘密组织成立了。 格雷（瑞安·卡怀特 Ryan Cartwright 饰）性格自闭但拥有远远超越了电脑的信息处理能力，比尔（马利克·约巴 Malik Yoba 饰）能够在短时间内强化身体肌肉获得过人的力量，妮娜（劳拉·门内尔 Laura Mennell 饰）外表美艳，善于操纵人心，瑞秋（阿齐塔·贾尼札达 Azita Ghanizada 饰）善于将声波化为利刃，威力无比。就是这样四位“阿尔法人”，他们和秘密组织的领头人罗森（大卫·斯特雷泽恩 David Strathairn 饰）相遇了。Following the death of a witness in a court case, Dr. Lee Rosen leads a team of "Alphas", (advanced human beings) who have have a number of special skills that makes them a formidable team. As Rosen mentors them and teaches the team to harness their considerable skills, they begin to realize that there are powerful forces behind the courthouse murder, including one of their own.
